What is a Title Sequence?

A title sequence is a method used to present:

  • important members of the production,
  • cast members,
  • the director's name,
  • the movie title
  • the company's name

This is usually presented at the beginning of a movie and superimposed as a blank screen or static picture. In most cases it is also accompanied by music.

The importance of a title sequence:
It helps the audience to understand what the film is going to be about because it highlights the important elements in the film.
By watching interesting title sequences the audience will have many unanswered questions which they can only find out from watching the rest of the movie; increases the distributors income.
